Pipe Hostel

Eden and his wife were such friendly hosts, and I’m grateful to them. I spent six nights here in July while backpacking around Taiwan. The hostel has a relaxing, cosy feel and is quiet. My room was comfortable and clean, and the bathrooms were in good condition and well maintained. It’s right by the metro station, too. If you’re visiting Kaohsiung and want some downtime, I’d recommend it. Thanks from the UK!

The hosts were warm and lovely. They make delicious drip coffee and espresso, and looked after our safety when a violent typhoon came through. I’d happily return for another cosy stay in Kaohsiung. My double room on the 5th floor had its own bathroom and was very comfortable, with AC in every room. The terrace up there is a great place to hang out after sunset. Downstairs, the atmosphere is also really nice, with music and lots of vintage decorations. I especially liked the creative use of pipes. There’s an MRT station right across from the hostel. The Pier 2 art area, with its galleries and cafes, is a few minutes’ walk away, and you can catch the circular tram there. Cijin pier isn’t too far either. Nearby, there are small local restaurants and a covered market with more hipster-style food and beer.

I was there for a few days in January and had a great time. The house and rooms have a really interesting concept, with lots of nice details. There’s a welcoming common area where you can meet other people and hang out, and I especially liked the bath areas with showers, toilets, and washbasins. As a night owl, I appreciated being able to check in with a code. It’s an amazing hostel in Kaohsiung’s Yancheng District.

Room 5A on the top floor had everything I needed, and the service was good. The terrace just beside it is beautiful, with lots of plants. I imagine it would be a lovely spot to watch the summer sunset with bubble tea or a beer. I’d definitely recommend the room I stayed in.
