Sun Garden Motel Ming Cheng

Our supposedly deluxe room wasn't ready at 9:40 p.m., even though we'd booked the day before. It smelled strongly of smoke, and parts of the walls and floor were moldy. The hot tub TV didn't work, and a panel came off the tub. Noise from the adjoining breakfast room started around 5 a.m. I've never stayed in a worse hotel or motel. Don't stay here.

The service was excellent. They promptly brought us two pairs of disposable chopsticks when we asked, and the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet was clean and comfortable. Our room was also very clean and comfortable. We stayed in room 601 from around 6 p.m. on February 3rd until noon on February 4th. The soundproofing was only so-so, and we could hear music playing continuously in the early morning. All the equipment was old, and the floor vibrated. Apart from the strong shower pressure, everything else was quite average.

The breakfast was substantial, with Chinese and Western dishes, and the restaurant was bright and comfortable. I stayed in room 306 on November 29th. It was an older room with a key, and I noticed a mildew smell as soon as I went in. The soundproofing wasn't great either; I could hear the doors next door opening and closing. The business room type didn't come with parking, but there were enough nearby lots and timed parking spaces. If rooms are hard to find in peak season and you don't expect much from the accommodation, it could work for a quick one-night stay.

The first room had an overwhelming smoke smell. We asked to change rooms, but the second one had a small single bathtub and a used water bottle on the bedside table. The cleanliness was appalling. They eventually moved us to a third room. The front desk said the time spent changing rooms earlier also counted toward the room-change time. I'll never come back.
