We had the whole beautiful blue, marine-themed three-story building to ourselves, with stairs connecting the floors, and enough room for our group of 18 people of all ages. The owner was very talkative and offered a very reasonable price for renting the entire building to a large group. Highly recommended!

Be careful, the owner may sell your room! Last May, our group of twelve booked six double rooms at this guesthouse. One couple had to cancel because of work, but they told the owner a month ahead and chose not to cancel the room because they didn’t want to cause trouble. Less than three minutes after checking in, one room lost power. The housekeeper came over and asked if we had booked an extra room, then told us to move into it while she dealt with the outage. We did, handed over the key, and went out. The next morning, a couple we didn’t know came out of the room that had supposedly lost power. They said they’d booked it online. It looked to us as though the owner knew we’d paid for that extra room and had rented it to other guests for the five days and four nights, using the power problem to get us to move. Since we still had five days there and didn’t want a falling out, we politely asked for the original room key, explaining that having it would make showering easier for our larger group. The owner said to get it from the housekeeper in the afternoon, but she gave us the key to a seventh room instead. By then, the room with the power issue had already been sold to someone else. The owner eventually gave us the seventh room, but the apparent overselling was despicable. They were very eager to ask for money and very slow to answer questions. Before check-in, I kept messaging about car rentals, airport transfers, package tours, and a charter boat to see fireworks. Replies took two or three days and were just “Yes.” There was no information about prices, schedules, what was included, or how to rent and return the room. I first thought the owner was too busy to respond, but they called twice in five days asking me to transfer the full amount. I had already paid for the room by credit card through Booking.com, but still transferred the remaining balance as requested. They were quick to demand payment and passive about answering customer questions. In the end, I bought a tour from another guesthouse a friend recommended. Penghu is beautiful and fun, but this guesthouse was absolutely terrible! Terrible! Terrible!

The staff were so friendly and warm. In the hot weather, they’d put free iced mineral water in the refrigerator for guests. They even told us to leave the room’s AC on while we went out, so it would be cool and comfortable when we got back. I’ve stayed in lots of places and never heard that advice before. They deserve a thumbs up!

The owner was very kind and tried their best to help with whatever we needed, even though the guesthouse itself was pretty basic. Still, the room wasn’t very clean, which bothered my friend, who has a sensitive nose. The bed was small, and there was no parking, so we had to find our own spot. At check-in they said breakfast would be served at 7:30, but the next morning we were suddenly told online bookings didn’t include breakfast. That was a bit of a shock. The shower hose’s metal casing kept slipping off and looked worn, and the sink drain cover was missing, so things nearly fell down it. There was a washing machine, but nowhere to dry clothes in the room except on the curtain rod. Towels were self-service on the first floor, but there weren’t enough and they weren’t replaced daily.
