The fare is good, depending on the timing of your trip.

The inn is very clean. The towels looked fresh, the comforters had no musty mountain smell, and even the older room didn't smell of cigarette smoke. There's Wi-Fi, and you can use your own Netflix account. The downside is that the sound carries, so hallway conversations and people moving things are easy to hear. We booked a small double room for a temporary stay during wisteria season. The bed was small, and the room felt cramped at night, though the thick, warm comforter and extra blanket helped. The bathroom is small too, with a low showerhead, so watch that you don't spray the clothes on the metal rack. The inn first opened in 1996. For NT$350 per person extra, dinner included fish, braised pork, scallion chicken, and two vegetable dishes. It was far more lavish than dinner outside the inn. Breakfast vegetables were especially fresh and sweet, and worth ordering. The owners were friendly and even came out to guide us when we couldn't find the place. It's conveniently within walking distance of the main wisteria viewing spots. The inn sits on the slope toward Ruili Elementary School, and can be easy to miss behind Ruitai Tea House or the Impression Cafe above it.

We came to see fireflies, and the owner pointed us to two spots where there were quite a lot of them. The family who runs the place is friendly, and the dinner we booked was tasty and healthy. It's an older-style hotel, but well cared for, with very comfortable beds.

In March 2026, during wisteria blossom season, we had a fantastic stay at this small, quiet place with good air and a relaxed pace. The facilities are older and there aren't many staff, but the rooms, toilets, lobby, tea area, and kitchen were all very clean and comfortable. The comforters were light but warm, and there was a water dispenser. The guests were considerate, and we had no trouble with noise. The double bed alongside two single beds was quiet enough that turning over didn't disturb anyone or start a blanket dispute. The landlady is a superb cook. I really recommend the 350 NTD per person dinner: pork, chicken, beef, two vegetables, soup, fruit, and steamed fish. Given how hard it is to preserve food in the mountains, steaming the fish instead of frying it seemed like a great choice. Breakfast had plenty of options too, including freshly stir-fried vegetables. The vegetables at both meals were tender and sweet. The owners were friendly. Many guests were repeat visitors, and there were also some foreigners. It had the feel of a Japanese hot spring inn, which I liked. The police station at the intersection also made me feel safe. Ruili Village itself has no gas station or convenience store, and food choices are limited. The inn is close to the wisteria viewing areas. While talking with the owners, I learned that this was once the site of "Ruihua Store." Their ancestors ran a general store here, and when it became a hotel they kept its signboard and the public toll bureau sign. They estimate the signboard is at least 100 years old.

They'll take you to see fireflies by the roadside at night, though driving farther is quicker if you want to see them spread across the mountains. The internet is fast, and the TV seems very up to date with everything you need. The room was clean, but the facilities are old. Dinner tasted home-cooked, while breakfast might not suit everyone.
