CHECK inn Select New Taipei Sanchong

A big park is right across the street, and Sanchong MTR station is directly opposite the hotel. The room was spacious, modern, clean, well designed, and had a very comfortable bed. Front desk service was okay, but could have been friendlier and more cheerful. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to friends and family.

For the price, I was happy with the stay. The hotel is beside a city park and a metro station with a direct airport connection, and there's a supermarket within walking distance. The main drawback is no restaurant on-site, so there's no hotel breakfast. Staff spoke limited English, which made communication a little difficult. I also couldn't check in just two hours early without paying an extra fee.

The suites were comfortable and good value for the price, so I may stay again. But my room wasn't made up three times. I returned around 4 pm and the front desk girls said they'd only started cleaning at 4 and didn't know when my room would be ready. Since guests can check in at 4, shouldn't the rooms be finished by then? Also, the lounge had been permanently rented to a poker club, so I couldn't wait there. The hotel site still said the lounge was available to guests, which was misleading. Ms Huang(Huang) was the one staff member who helped. The day before checkout, I asked if she could arrange for my room to be cleaned early because I wanted to return early the next day. She left a note to make sure it was done before 1 pm. The other staff didn't offer help and just watched me wait in the lobby. I'd have rated the service lower if not for Ms Huang.

The bathroom edges had mould, and an exit sign above the door stayed lit even after I switched off the room lights. It was quite bright, and I'd never seen an exit sign inside a room before. The hotel is near an open railway station, so trains can be heard passing from inside. I wouldn't return.
