Merryday Hotel Banqiao Branch

The hotel staff were helpful, but the food during quarantine was awful, the worst I’ve had at a hotel in Taiwan. The bread wasn’t fresh, and each meal came in abento box with very little vegetables or protein. The meals weren’t cheap, so I wondered why they served such poor food. This was at building I, the quarantine hotel. Update: They took my feedback seriously and made an effort to improve. Thanks!

The staff were down to earth and helpful, but the check-in setup was strange. After our long trip, we reached the hotel and found the room wasn’t ready; they said we’d have to wait four hours or pay extra for the day. Our online booking was for two separate beds, but they said it was for one double bed. The rooms are very, very small, and the TV had to be fixed several times before it finally worked.

Other guests smoked regularly, which was the worst part of the stay. Our room itself was clean, with all hardwood floors and a separate shower and toilet stall, a good setup for two people. Service was solid.

The view from my window was of what looked like a clean room or storage space, and I could hear someone walking and talking nearby. It felt very creepy. I booked in the afternoon and came to check in an hour after the standard check-in time. The staff said someone else had rented my room to rest in, so I’d have to wait until 9:30 p.m. or pay more to switch to another room, which would be ready in an hour. I couldn’t believe I had to spend extra to get the room I’d booked that afternoon.
