The property is beautiful, tucked into the mountains, and the Open Hot Springs and Spa world are truly amazing. So far, the experience has been amazing, and the rooms are very spacious. The main downside is the lack of nearby places to eat, including within the hotel.

We stayed in the 2nd wing, where the slides were, and the room's modern furnishings were in good shape. Having a hotspring in the room felt like a real luxury. Breakfast had a great spread. Some service staff seemed less motivated than staff at other hotels in Taiwan, though. On the whole, I'd recommend it.

This didn't feel like 5-star luxury. We arrived at 2pm and could only get cheap meat buns to eat. It was so cold that staff had coats on. The scenery is lovely on a good day, but how many good days does east Yangmingshan get? The shared swimming facilities also require a swimcap, which can put foreign guests off.

It's peaceful and quiet up in the mountains. The property is older, but had everything we needed. We brought our own snacks and dinner, and when it isn't cloudy, the dark sky is good for star gazing.

Spa world is the standout here. It's huge, with all sorts of spa options, a kids area, a slide, several pools, hot and cold plunge pools, and massage options. You could easily spend 2-3 hours there, and for me it was worth visiting just for that. The hotel is rated 5 stars, though I think it feels more like 3.5 to 4, mostly because it's older. It could use a refresh, but the condition seems acceptable for a 3.5-star place. I like hotel gyms, but this one needs all new equipment.
