Twilight Forest

A lovely detail was leaving with a whole bag of goodies and treats. Twilight Forest is about a 10-minute walk from Jiufen Old Street, and we had a superb stay. The breakfast café was relaxing and beautifully themed, with tasty food and, best of all, good coffee. A few practical things: there aren't separate rooms, so bring earplugs if anyone in your family snores. It's worth packing some food if you're heading back to the homestay early, or you may be hungry with little to eat. The area's steep steps and slopes could be difficult for older family members. I'd aim to return before 7pm, while it's still light.

For our group of five, having two washrooms and an extra sink outside was really handy. The host also suggested several places to park our car, which we appreciated. The place was comfortable, tranquil, and nicely styled. Jiufen Old Street is only about a five-minute walk away, so we could visit without dealing with the biggest crowds. We enjoyed it enough to wish we'd booked one more night.

Twilight Forest was clean and comfortable, in a beautiful location. Just be prepared to carry your luggage up stairs. I'd recommend it and hope I can return someday.

Getting to the accommodation in Jiufen was a bit of a trek, though that seems pretty normal around there. I'd suggest packing light so you're not worn out carrying your bags. Check-in is self-service: contact them on LINE, complete a Google Form, then follow the video they send to find the key. Doing it all yourself was a little confusing, and it took me quite a while to get into the room. The room had Japanese-style decor, the price was reasonable, and there was a bathtub to soak in. The air conditioning was adjustable, and once settled, I had a good stay.
