The good reviews are probably all because of the cats. Boss, maybe you should just make this a cat-themed guesthouse? I was in Puli on a one-day business trip and checked in with my wife and pet at 11:00 AM. The price was supposed to be 1800 NTD, but after we arrived they said the room I’d chosen wasn’t pet-friendly and added 1000 NTD to the bill. They even said, “Just add another 1000 NTD? Does Booking.com know this is allowed?!” I was exhausted and wanted to leave, but the nightmare was only starting. The pressure pump was extremely loud in the middle of the night and kept running, so it was hard to sleep. There were loads of very venomous mosquitoes outside. In the morning, just as other reviews said, my car roof was covered in cat hair, and there were tons of red ants. I was scared they’d make a nest under the car. The TV was very old and made strange noises. The pest problem seemed severe. Likes: none. Dislikes: arbitrary charges and unclear pricing; friendly cats don’t mean the place is pet-friendly; the pump ran at night; the old TV made weird noises; after parking overnight, my car was swarmed by ants.

The rooms were clean, and the bathroom was very quiet, which were the main positives. Breakfast was poor: the porridge was nearly gone and nobody refilled it, and there didn’t seem to be any staff checking on guests. The owner hadn’t warned me that cats might jump onto car hoods. I only saw the sign the next morning as I was leaving, and was speechless. With the property beside a main road, you hear cars whenever the window is open. The balcony looks straight onto the neighbor’s wall. It’s basically just somewhere to stay. It could work for a get-together with friends, but there isn’t much space to enjoy nature.

A clean, simple room with lots of TV options, and a good place to rest before heading up the mountain. It’s easy for visitors from out of town to find on the provincial highway. There’s a gas station and 7-Eleven near National Highway 6. I’d book again.

The owners clearly put care into the place. The room was tidy and comfortable, even though it wasn’t very big. The owner was friendly, there were lots of cute cats, and it’s pet-friendly! 👍
