Calligraphy Greenway Hotel

The location is great, near parks, a shopping mall, and plenty of restaurants. The place was clean, and the cleaning staff came by to ask if we needed anything cleaned or resupplied. Staff were friendly and helpful. I got locked out at 1am after forgetting my key when I went for midnight snacks, but someone was at the front counter and opened the door after checking my ID. The hotel is good value, with decent space, though the design is funny. All in all, I was very satisfied with the stay. Good job, guys!

The staff tried to find me a quieter room, moving me to a corner farther from the elevator, giving me ear plugs, and bringing another comforter. You can still hear muffled traffic and your neighbor opening and closing the door. Three stars is generous, mostly because of their effort. The beds are the worst part: very old spring beds where you feel every toss and turn from your partner. There were other annoyances. The slippers were all the way inside the bathroom instead of by the entrance, and the soap and shampoo were to the left of the shower head, so you have to reach across the tub to wash your hands at the sink, where there’s no other soap. The mirror lighting is very dim. Despite the ♨️ icon, the AC has no heater mode, and it can get cold in winter. It was 18C inside when it was 13C outside, though you can ask for another blanket. The intersection outside has no crosswalks because of the school across the street, so you have to go up and down stairs to cross on overpasses or walk a full block out of the way. If you book one bed per person and can handle ear plugs, it could be acceptable for the price and location, but you get what you pay for!

The smell was bad, and the AC blew right onto my face and head, which was really uncomfortable. The TV remote didn’t work from the bed either. The clerk told us we had to use it within 30cm and point it in a specific direction, which was ridiculous. Honestly, it was a really awful experience.

The rooms are clean and the location is perfect. Yui at the front desk was especially kind to me yesterday. She sorted out my problem and turned a horrible day around in minutes.
