Explore Hotel

The hotel is about 10 minutes from Fengjia night market, close enough to get there easily but far enough away to avoid the crowds and noise. I stayed one night, and the counter surprised me with a room upgrade. A really nice gesture after a tiring day.

The rooms seemed well kept, to be fair, but the staff had a real problem with competence. We got to the hotel around noon, before check-in, and were told we could leave our bags there. We did, and they took my passport for checking. When we came back after 7 pm, they asked us for the passport and booking number all over again. Don’t the different shifts communicate? Shouldn’t they have anticipated this for guests whose luggage they already had? Atrocious.

My partner and I found several problems in the room: black mold in the shower, chipped and exposed paint by the sink, dust and cobwebs, stains and hair on the sheets, moldy amenities, and a cockroach trap under the desk. The rooms felt tacky and poorly cleaned, and may even have an infestation. The lobby is heavily themed to feel like Disneyland, and the reviews are glowing, but that wasn’t our experience. I also found that many five-star reviews seem to be solicited by the hotel, which offers a discount or special prize for posting one. If you doubt it, look through the five-star reviews and see how many are detailed. I’d strongly recommend staying elsewhere, since there are plenty of legitimate chain hotels nearby.

The staff were polite and well trained, and very friendly, but a couple of things made the stay difficult. The soundproofing is really poor: we could hear bathing, TV, and hair dryers loudly, which made the nights unpleasant. Cleanliness needs work too. My wife and I were bitten quite badly by mites after the first day. We told the staff, and they changed our sheets, but we got a few more bites after the first night. I suspect the bed is the issue and hope the hotel sees this and does something.
