Good Garden Apartment

Several basic facilities were in poor shape: the toilet wouldn't flush properly, the shower and sink had problems, and kitchen utensils were often dirty enough to raise hygiene concerns. There was noticeable wear throughout the property, which made it feel neglected. Communication and the way the situation was handled added stress instead of support. I also felt uneasy because cameras in common areas hadn't been clearly disclosed upfront. I couldn't relax or sleep properly during my stay. It was one of my worst accommodation experiences, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. I'd strongly suggest looking at other, professionally managed places.

For a long solo stay, I'd consider this furnished apartment again. My two-month stay was good value overall, though a few things held it back from five stars. It was fairly clean, the bed and bedding were comfortable, and I had my own washing machine on the balcony. Guests could cook and eat in a full communal kitchen, and there was a lobby mini bar with snacks and a drink every Thursday. Reception was friendly and responsive, on site on weekdays during business hours and reachable through Line. The location was quieter than the area around the station. There was a Family Mart across the road and a laundromat around the corner, useful for drying sheets since there wasn't enough balcony space to air-dry them. It took about 15 minutes to walk to the railway station and Taroko Mall, and 8 minutes to Lalaport. Booking through booking.com cost a little more but included utilities; booking directly meant paying electricity separately. The room was fine for one person, but cramped after my husband joined me. Tiny flying bugs poured out of the laundry pipes after the first two uses. Dampness makes bugs common in Taiwan, but the balcony became unusable, and I took my laundry elsewhere. The receptionist kindly gave me bug spray, but they kept coming back and swarming into the room whenever I opened the balcony doors. The shoe storage in the lobby only fit one pair per room. That was manageable for one person, but with two of us we had to keep shoes upstairs. For temporary accommodation, I think they should set aside more space for guests' shoes. Pipes or sewers right in front of the building also gave off a distinct fart smell. It wasn't gag-inducing, but I noticed it whenever I opened the windows or turned off the AC. Cleaning services cost extra, unlike at some other aparthotels I've used. Not a major issue, just something to know. I'd stay here again for an extended solo trip. For a shorter visit with my husband, a regular hotel would be more comfortable and convenient.

The location is a real plus for a longer stay in Taichung: it's very close to Taichung train station, and there are places to eat within a five-minute walk. The place was quite clean, and Secretary Lisa was friendly. Privacy was the reason I gave it only one star. I'm a solo traveler, and in several conversations Lisa mentioned that I didn't need to turn off the room lights when showering. I found that an odd thing for her to know, since nobody else should have been in the room with me. I was sick once and had to make an unplanned overnight trip to Taipei. Electricity was billed separately from the room, so I was keeping an eye on usage. There's a meter at the water tank, which I was told showed the temperature. After nearly three weeks there, I knew it was usually around 40 degrees. I was away for over 24 hours, yet when I returned and turned it on, it had climbed to 63. I couldn't understand why the temperature would spike if nobody had been in the room. The accommodation photos were misleading about the very small toilet. If you're taller than perhaps 165 cm, your head will hit the ceiling. That wasn't mentioned on the official booking website or in later WhatsApp messages. If privacy matters to you, as I think it does to every traveler, check things carefully before choosing this place. I booked through the official website and attached a copy of the official receipt.
