Hotel Euphemia

Weekday rates are reasonable, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby, plus a 7-11 almost next door. I think the hotel is aiming for a boutique feel, but it doesn’t have the distinctive character, luxury atmosphere, or attention to detail I’d expect from a good boutique hotel. As a business hotel, though, I’d give it five stars. As a boutique, four.

I’m still in Taipei and already missing this place. I usually never review hotels, no matter how good they are, but this one changed how I think about accommodation in Taiwan, and I’d absolutely stay again when I’m back in Taichung. It’s about 700m from FengJia night market, an easy walk back after eating. The staff were patient and very well mannered with all our questions. The room was thoughtfully designed, bright, and comfortable, with clean duvet covers and pillows, quality shampoo and lotion, and complimentary snacks and drinks. Room service was quick and efficient. We also got two free drink vouchers for the bar. Alcoholic drinks needed a small extra payment, but the amount was reasonable. Big thanks to the whole team, and all the best to you.

The bar was a highlight for me. Our complimentary cocktail or mocktail was great, and the bartender was friendly and professional, helping suggest something to suit my taste. The bar also welcomes people who aren’t staying at the hotel, so it’s a nice place to relax with a drink. Our room was clean, with free snacks, coffee, and tea. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. I’d come back next time I visit Taichung.

We only stayed overnight, but I’d happily return. The room was comfortable and the interior design was tasteful, and there’s a small gym that’s enough for a quick workout in the morning. They were accommodating with our daughter, providing extra bedding and serving us quickly. We were also offered a welcome mocktail when we arrived. The bar staff looked very professional, so I’d like to try their cocktails next time. One thing to keep in mind is that there’s no parking onsite.
