The room was clean and a decent size, and everyone at the front desk was helpful and nice. Guests can use a washing machine with detergent and a dryer for free on the sixth floor. There’s also a kitchen and living area just above the first floor. I picked this area so I could walk to Fengchia Night Market, but next time I’d stay elsewhere. At night the stinky tofu smell is so strong that you can’t open the window. I’d also suggest the owner use another towel laundry company, since the towels have a slightly bad detergent smell. For food at Fengchia Night Market, try the pepper meat cakes cooked on the sides of an oven. They’re similar to ones at Raohe Night Market in Taipei. Other places I’d recommend are PAUL cafe, Shann Rice Bar on the 9th floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, and Shan Shin restaurant.

Innk is decent and very well placed for food and exploring Taichung. The stay was good until checkout, when we kept getting calls before checkout time asking us to leave. It made us feel pressured and unwelcome. We also couldn’t find one of our cards, though we’re sure it was somewhere in the room, and were charged extra. The hotel could make checkout more relaxed and train staff to be more considerate.

The stay was good until checkout. Just 10 minutes before the deadline, the front desk called and said we had to leave right away or pay extra, even though the next guests weren’t due until 3 PM. We’d spent a lot of money and only needed a few minutes to pack, but they showed no flexibility or courtesy. They also warned us about being charged if we lost a room key. These strict, unfriendly rules don’t feel like hospitality. The hotel should change them.

Housekeeping did an excellent job, and the place was clean and neat, if not fancy. The customer service was polite and friendly, and the night market is very conveniently located.
