Breakfast was our favorite part of the stay. The buffet offered loads of Taiwanese and Western choices, and everything we tried was fresh and tasty. We stayed one night at OKU, and the design made it one of the more interesting hotel concepts we’ve seen after years of full-time travel and hundreds of stays. The hotel occupies a refurbished department store, mixing Art Deco details with East-meets-West style and touches that reminded us a little of Alice in Wonderland. The bar as you enter is stunning. Dining and bar spaces span three floors, each with its own theme, and we loved the distinctive look throughout. If you like design-led hotels that feel different from the usual chains, it’s a great choice for a short visit to Taichung.

The bar became one of our favorite places to unwind in the evening. It was stylish and relaxed, and never too loud. At OKU Hotel, the whole atmosphere felt calm, like it was made to help you slow down. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a warm, natural design that made it easy to settle in. Everything seemed thoughtfully cared for. We had a lovely stay, left feeling refreshed, and would absolutely return.

The gym is very basic, with only about three machines and no free weights, and the laundry setup of one washer and one dryer caused us some inconvenience. Because of those limits, I wouldn’t call this a true 5-star hotel. Still, the staff were polite and helpful, the facilities were clean and well maintained, and the spacious room was comfortable. Breakfast was good, with a decent range. A pleasant stay for cleanliness and comfort, though some facilities could better match higher-end expectations.

The bar team, Andrew, Ding, and Elvin, made a busy evening feel fantastic. They looked after me so well, and their energy made the night memorable. The hotel should be proud of them. I also felt warmly welcomed from the moment I arrived and was comfortable throughout my two days there. The housekeeping team kept everything spotless and were always kind and helpful, while reception staff were just as welcoming and professional. My room was spacious, well kept, and very comfortable, especially the bed. It all felt luxurious, with thoughtful details. A beautiful stay, and I’d absolutely recommend the hotel.
