We arrived late in the afternoon on our first day, after the kitchen had closed. Since there weren’t any other places to eat nearby, the owners kindly shared dumplings, which they were having for dinner too, so we wouldn’t go hungry. We stayed for three evenings in Apr’25, and the view over the countryside was fantastic. Even our local cab driver got out to take photos and asked how we’d found such a gem. The room was well equipped, with cable TV if you wanted to stay in, plus a table and settees beside the window for watching the sunset. The cafe had a similar view. The owners were quick to respond on Line app (commonly used in Taiwan) and helpful with directions and ways to get to the homestay. They also gave us advice on activities and arranged a local guide. When we checked out, one of them offered us a free ride all the way to Taichung central train station, saying “she was going the same way,” and helped us work out the best route for our next destination. My wife asked about vegan food, and the owners accommodated her where they could. The chef’s turmeric rice and curry risotto were delicious and nicely presented, with a good range of nutrients in each dish. Breakfast was similar. We even suggested they might offer cooking classes for guests in future. We were really impressed and would certainly come back if we return to Taichung.
