Dream 12 Hotel

The lobby looked clean and presentable, and the queen bed was huge and comfortable, even for a 190m tall German man. Still, I gave only two stars for several reasons. At checkout, the receptionist pressured us to pull out our phones and leave five-star reviews, which makes me wonder if that's why the ratings are so high. There was a dead cockroach on the black cabinet beside the bed, the sink kept clogging, and water pressure was very low. I spoke with other guests about it too. The sound insulation was basically nonexistent, so we heard people talking, farting, burping, and moving chairs all around. The air conditioning unit on the balcony was loud as well. I shared this feedback with the receptionist, but doubt anything will change.

Walking into the hotel was a pleasant surprise. It's stylish and very convenient, and the front desk was attentive and efficient. I'd highly recommend it to anyone spending a couple of days in Taichung.

About a 20-minute walk from many nearby points of interest, this is a clean, simple, and lovely place. You can't adjust the air conditioner directly from your room, though it stays cool enough to sleep. It's part of a hotel chain called Unique Hotel.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly. I had a balcony, and there was an elevator. Breakfast cost 25 AUD, which felt too expensive, so I skipped it. There are plenty of places to eat nearby anyway. The location is great, though morning music could be heard from the room.
