Yu Chun Hotel

I booked on Agoda for a Saturday night, at around 18XX. The room had plenty of space, but the bathroom walls, floor, and sink had yellow stains and mold, and there were lots of crumbs and dust on the room floor when I arrived. No paper slippers were provided, so I had to buy some later. The refrigerator was dirty too, with uneven gray and yellow marks that looked like wiping grime. Its cooling setting couldn’t be adjusted. Getting around is inconvenient because it’s quite far from the city center and the only public transport is the bus. After checkout I stayed in the lobby for a while, and the front desk staff were rather noisy, perhaps that reflects the hotel’s culture. If cleanliness matters most to you, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. If you mainly want a spacious room, it could be worth considering.

I had to go down to the first-floor counter to pick up breakfast, which was traditional meat and egg toast and turnip cake with an egg. Parking was first come, first served, so there might not be a spot left if I went out and came back. I could also constantly hear a low motor hum through the poorly soundproofed room.

The bed was comfortable, and there is parking, but some areas could have been cleaner. Although the hotel is meant to be non-smoking, the hallway smelled strongly of smoke. Breakfast comes as McDonald's vouchers that you have to redeem at a McDonald's outside, which was inconvenient.

The rooms are large, which is about the only positive. The location is inconvenient too: to get a taxi, you have to walk to the main road or ask the front desk to book one. They don't offer a shuttle. For breakfast, they hand out a voucher, but you have to go to a KFC a kilometer away to use it. You also have to call and ask for bottled water because none is put in the room beforehand, and the bathroom design is poor. Paying an extra 1000 for a holiday room really doesn't feel worth it.
