FX Hotel Tainan MinSheng Road Branch

The hotel itself is just okay, nothing to complain about or get excited over. The location is good, and it's fine if all you need is a place to sleep. What earned the five stars was how the receptionist helped us. My partner and I used an ATM at a bank two doors down, and it swallowed our credit card along with the cash withdrawal. We went straight back to the hotel lobby and explained. The receptionist called the bank and kindly sorted it out for us. We were very grateful. For foreign travelers, try the ATM at the 7/11 a little farther down instead 😅

The poor cleanliness was the main issue. The bathroom was dirty, as the photos show, and there was a strange smell in the hallway all the time, sometimes in my room too. My room's internet was so unreliable that video calls didn't really work. The hotel is quite far from the local train station, and the hallway isn't level, which made walking there with luggage inconvenient. For what I paid, the stay wasn't worth it. The hotel fell far below standard, at most a two-star place.

There are lots of shops around this city hotel in Tainan, and you can walk around at night. The room was quite small, and both it and the toilet weren't very clean. The place looked old, but was okay for one night's sleep. The AC worked and got quite cold. The bathroom is open, covered by just one curtain, so I wouldn't recommend sharing with friends. I liked that the washing machine was free to use for dirty clothes. Overall, it was okay and worth considering.

I was a little doubtful because the hotel has fairly low reviews, but the location, service, sound, and cleanliness were all good. That's from someone who spends more than a third of each month in hotels.
