Good Garden Lady's Hostel

The place has been renovated nicely, but I don’t think the price was worth it compared with what I pay for the same amount in Taipei, where I get bigger rooms and bathrooms. Our room had no windows and was really tiny. The bathroom was even worse, like a shoebox, and a shower left the whole space wet. The mattress was rock hard, almost like sleeping on the floor, and the soundproofing was rubbish. If you’re tall or have a larger build, especially if you’re a Westerner, I’d suggest booking elsewhere. The guesthouse was hard to find in a secluded alley, and the water dispenser wasn’t refilled when empty.

We paid for the slightly larger room, and while it wasn’t spacious, it didn’t feel cramped for us since we travel light. The bathroom was a small wet room, with the shower head attached to the sink tap; that worked fine for us. The floor tiles dried quickly, and we liked the environmental choice of providing just one hand towel each for drying. The place was very clean, with a peaceful decor and a nice “zen” theme. We didn’t hear our neighbors on either Friday or Saturday night, despite other reviews mentioning soundproofing. It’s a convenient little spot for a two-night stay, and we’d highly recommend it for a weekend exploring Tainan.

My friend and I had a great stay. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the location was excellent, and the staff were really helpful. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Tainan!
