Maple Hotel Second Branch

Really bad hotel. The room had no working air conditioning, and the lobby was a hundred times cooler. All the front desk could say was “so sorry.” There was mold in the toilet, too. Very unhygienic. If you stay here, good luck with your money and comfort.

The bathroom is spacious, the king-sized bed is large, the shower pressure is good, and there’s a kettle in the room. The hotel itself is old but has a quaint feel. There are a lot of small things that could be better: no bathroom mirror or in-room safe, a pillow that’s far too soft and flat, and a duvet that doesn’t cover the whole bed. The cupboard only has two hangers. Wi-Fi is unsecured, slow, and keeps dropping. It also takes far too long for the water to get hot, which wastes water. Not a bad stay, but they should pay more attention to the details.

Our room was pretty good and spacious, and we could park easily in the hotel garage. Free bikes were available for riding around town. The hard mattress was the main downside. The stay got off to a bad start because the two people at the front desk were unwelcoming, even though it wasn’t busy. The two girls working in the morning were nice, though, probably because we were already guests. The Wi-Fi had no code and was difficult to connect to or stay connected with. If you need to work, this is a big no-go.

The room felt very dated, and there’s no laundry service on site, which was a real hassle. The Wi-Fi is listed as an amenity, but it didn’t work at all. The female receptionists weren’t friendly either. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to friends or family visiting Tainan.
