No.79 in Tainan

Parking is limited, and the nearby lots can be pretty expensive. Still, we liked this cozy little hostel, with its charming mix of styles, and the staff were friendly. The shower had hot water and good pressure, too.

The service was quick and helpful, especially when I got into Tainan really late on my first day. They still explained how to get settled in at the homestay, and communication was smooth as they helped sort things out. Agoda’s information had misled me, but they let me switch from a double bed room to the twin bed room I’d meant to book. It was resolved within 12 hours. The room wasn’t huge, but it felt cozy, and the design had a different, holiday kind of vibe. The downside was the poor soundproofing. One morning I woke up early because someone in the next room left their alarm going for a while. LOL

Nora and Zoe made check-in quick and smooth, right on schedule. They were super friendly, spoke excellent English, and had loads of suggestions for things to do. They helped me get a cab when I needed one, too. Their recommendations included both popular tourist spots and places off the beaten path, and I enjoyed all of them. Their tips made the stay a fun adventure!

The little touches made such a difference, from the great coffee and local treats waiting on arrival to the warm welcome when we came back from hiking Yushan. We loved it so much that we returned for a few more nights, and hearing them say “Welcome backkkk!!” made us so happy. We came away with lovely memories and friends for life. Can’t wait to return! Nora and Zoe had already made things feel easy before we arrived, helping us by messenger and being flexible about our arrival time. The room was even more beautiful than the pictures, with such lovely style and comfort. It felt like home for a few days, and we were grateful to find such a magical, affordable place in a country where beautiful accommodation can be hard to find. Their recommendations made our Tainan stay, from places to eat and drink to things to visit. When we wanted to hike Yushan, Norah spent almost the whole afternoon calling, filling in forms, and explaining the steps because we were struggling with the complicated process. I have no words for how amazing our experience at No 79 in Tainan was. Beyond perfect, we couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
