I booked the wrong month on Agoda and asked to cancel, but they rejected it right away and didn’t bother replying to my messages. I know the booking mistake was mine, but it would’ve been nice to get a response or a refund offer so I could find somewhere else for the dates I actually needed. Most hotels in Tainan offer free cancellation, so I’d avoid this one unless you’re certain you’ll be staying and don’t need customer support.

The rooms were good, and there was an elevator, which was helpful with luggage. But after leaving our first hostel because of its unbearable musty smell, we booked this place at the last minute and ran into a stressful mess. We’d read that the access code wouldn’t arrive before 4 PM, and since we hadn’t slept well, we tried to ask whether an earlier check-in was possible. The phone number listed by both the booking site and hostel was out of service. We waited until 4, but by 5 we still had no code, and our message through the booking site got no reply. Eventually we asked the booking site to contact them. The password they gave us was wrong. After the booking site got through, the hostel finally answered my message with the code and house rules. It seemed like several different managers were involved. Having two problematic hostels or guesthouses in a row was frightening. I hope they provide a working phone number so guests can reach them.
