The tatami room was clean and smelled nice, though the mattress provided was pretty flat. There’s no elevator, so getting luggage upstairs could be tough if your bags are large or heavy. The homestay is tucked in an alley beside a temple, just off a main road. Restaurants and shops are convenient to reach, while the area gets quiet enough in the evening to rest well. My room had a glass panel facing the stairs that let in quite a bit of light, so I was glad I brought an eye mask.

The guest house is neat and has a distinctive tatami room. It’s in a lively downtown spot near Chikan Tower. Renting an electric motorbike is a handy way to save time and energy, since you can skip waiting for the bus and just head out. I had a nice experience and strongly recommend it!

Nora, the hostess downstairs, was there to help, and each room opens with a secure code, so I felt fine leaving my valuables while I went out. The owner was helpful with suggestions for places to visit and eat. He doesn’t usually let guests use the laundry machine downstairs, but when he heard I was finishing a long trip around Asia, he offered to let me wash all my dirty clothes. That was a lifesaver. I’d gladly stay here again, and it seems great for families and couples. The lodge is just across the street from Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia), one of Tainan’s most popular attractions. There are lots of food and drink options nearby, but it sits down a quiet little alley, so you get the central location without the noise. The place was spotless and modern. The three rooms have traditional Japanese tatami style, modern bathrooms, and flat screen TVs. Each room sleeps three to six people.
