the Retro Tai-Pan

There were lots of sockets in our roomy room, and a few good places were within walking distance. Breakfast was amazing and a great start to the day. Worth what we paid.

The location was convenient, and the room seemed fine at first: clean at a glance, a decent size, and with a comfortable enough bed. But I got several itchy bed bug bites overnight, and that completely spoiled my stay.

I liked the wood and steel look and the ambient lighting. I spent two nights in a Comfort Room facing the main road. It was spacious, though the bathroom felt cramped by comparison, and the bed and linens were fine. My main complaint is the poor soundproofing. Even on the fourth floor, I could hear people down on the street, traditional music from nearby temples, and jets flying overhead.

The strong air conditioning and shower made the stay comfortable, and the staff were attentive, with the rooms serviced on time. We enjoyed staying at The Retro Tai-Pan. I’d heard concerns about soundproofing, but we only noticed street noise and the occasional hallway sound during the day. We shared just one wall with another room, and the other guests were considerate and kept things quiet after a certain time. Light sleepers might still want earplugs 😊 The pillows were pretty average if you prefer firmer ones. I’d suggest offering some other options.
