Tie Dao Hotel

Getting around was easy: the hotel is near Tainan train station, with a bus stop right outside and public transport close by. The price was low, but I wouldn't stay here again unless I had no choice. Cockroaches, poor facilities, noise, and the manager's response to our concerns made the trip miserable. I won't stay longer than I have to. We spotted a cockroach in the room when we arrived and reported it. Staff said they'd deep clean, but the problem was still there when we got back. The manager offered a move to a higher floor after we complained again, but wouldn't promise the new room would be pest-free. Eventually a staff member climbed a ladder and caught one roach with a tissue. They said roaches on the ceiling weren't normal and that they were mostly found on the floor. Agoda advertised a “great view,” but ours was bare walls, with a thin frosted-glass window looking into a corridor. The building wasn't soundproof, so other guests disturbed us at night. You can't flush toilet paper and have to put it in an open bin by the toilet. There was no bidet, and the Wi-Fi was unreliable. The luggage storage was in an open room, and we were told to go in and collect our bags without supervision. Anyone could enter the lobby and reach any floor without a keycard. The only microwave and vending machines in the lobby seemed to need staff supervision. Service was inconsistent. No one directly asked us for a five-star review in exchange for free gifts, though past reviews had described that. The manager seemed dismissive when we raised concerns and showed little concern for our comfort.

The staff were very service-minded, and the room was comfortable with all the amenities. Public transport was easy to reach, and Tainan Garden, convenience stores, and food stalls were nearby.

The bus stops for all the major routes are within walking distance of the entrance, so getting around by bus was convenient. The hotel is also just a block from Tainan train station, which was the best part. Rooms are spacious, but the bed was one of the hardest and most uncomfortable I've slept on. The shower has only half a glass wall, so it leaves the whole bathroom soaked. Poor design.

The staff were kind, and everything else was fine, but the room was a letdown. I found three cockroaches, even though they were small, and the sheet didn't look clean. There were little hairs and some dust you could see with your eyes.
