Getting inside was a frustrating start. I never got the street door code, and after trying the intercom several times with no answer, I contacted them through the booking app. It took over an hour to hear back. There’s no front desk, just a self check-in machine, and the official check-in time of 4:00 PM is the latest I’ve seen at a hotel. I finished the check-in process around 1:00 PM, but the machine said to return at 4:00 for the key card. At 4:01, it still claimed cards were only available after 16:00. I eventually worked out that the card comes from “Housed service → Reprint documents,” not “Housed service → Get a room card.” The room itself was fine, but the walls are very thin. I could hear everything from next door, and there was no quiet time.

We had a comfortable, happy stay. The room was clean, grocery stores were very close, and public transit around Taipei was easy to get to.

Getting checked in was easy with the simple self-service counter. The room was spacious and clean, with a mini fridge, TV, hairdryer, toiletries and towels. There’s a bidet toilet and central heating for colder months, too. It’s about a five-minute walk to Daqiaotou MRT station. My one small gripe: there’s no mirror in the room outside the bathroom. Great value, and I had a really good stay.

This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in 15 years. We booked through Agoda, but they didn’t give us a password, so we couldn’t get in or out. The password wasn’t on the official website either, and we were incredibly anxious. It was also hard to find. We only got the password when someone else needed to enter. It’s cheap, but you pay for that, and I’d sincerely advise tourists not to stay here. Just an awful experience.

We stayed two nights, and the power kept cutting out after we put the key card in. They said they’d call an electrician the next day, but nothing seemed to happen, and the power went out again on our second night. I’m a light sleeper, so that noise was enough to wake me. The soundproofing was poor, too. We could hear the tap running next door. The start of the stay was already a mess. We arrived early on February 20th and waited until 4 PM for our key cards, but the machine said the room wasn’t ready. We messaged their official account and waited more than 20 minutes without an answer. The first-floor phone went unanswered, and the number listed on Agoda seemed disconnected. We couldn’t find anyone to help. A cleaning lady was there, so we went upstairs and found her cleaning the room we were supposed to have. I know it was Lunar New Year and they had lots of guests, but they should’ve contacted us instead of leaving us to discover the room was unfinished. They offered another room, but my husband thought it wasn’t clean enough. Then they moved us back to the original room, with the electrical problem. Thankfully, the cleaning lady was around that day. Without her, we don’t know how long we’d have waited for help. They were also really pushing us to check out, despite the delayed check-in, and didn’t even apologize.
