Michael made this one of the best service experiences I’ve had at fine dining. He was professional but natural, attentive when we needed him and still gave us room to talk. The chefs were just as thoughtful, checking in sincerely about each dish. It felt warmly hosted rather than like the usual cold fine-dining experience. At Mizue, the comfortable, elegant setting was lovely, but the cooked dishes really stayed with me. The grilled fish, unagi, and anago were all perfectly done. I can see the kitchen is balancing the menu for local Taiwanese tastes, though I hope Chef Hara keeps his authentic Japanese techniques and seasoning. There’s real beauty in that original craft. Mizue has so much potential, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it develops. 😋
Our first trip to Taipei became a really memorable one, even though the stay was short. We’d come for a getaway with friends, and everyone was so helpful: Jason, Katherine, Maggie, Rachel, Ryan, Tippy, and Joseph made sure we were comfortable, and Tina and Dennis gave us a warm welcome. I’m sorry I can’t name all the other great people too. The hotel’s interior and decor were very photogenic, and there were tons of activities. Our room on the 16th floor was cozy and comfortable with a great view. The pool also had a nice view of Taipei 101. Breakfast was amazing, with lots of choices. My friends and I had a wonderful time at Capella Taipei, and I’ll definitely come back.
The building is beautiful, with impressive construction and thoughtful architectural details. At Plume, Shawn went above and beyond, and the service there was exceptional. Dennis, the General Manager, was warm and attentive and helped make our stay feel true to Capella’s high standards. From the location to the beautifully appointed room, everything was superb. We felt sincerely welcomed and enjoyed every moment. We’d gladly return.
For two nights in April 2026, we stayed at Capella Taipei and I also tried Mizue, Playback, Tilt, and a spa treatment. The design and hardware are stunning for a brand-new hotel, and even the toiletries felt top quality. I was especially taken with the elevators. Tilt and Playback were fantastic too, and I’d recommend checking out the bars. Privacy was the big problem. Every time I returned to my room, I had to walk through the dining area and past the famous, beautiful staircase. People were taking photos there literally every time I passed. With so many outside dining guests, I often felt management cared more about influencers promoting the property than about the privacy of overnight guests. The food at Mizue was amazing, and the chefs and staff were incredibly friendly, but other guests made it one of the worst sushi omakase experiences I’ve had. A group of five brought their own alcohol and were so loud I couldn’t hear what the chef was saying to me. I understand a restaurant can only do so much, but I feel the hotel shouldn’t take reservations for groups larger than two in such an intimate setting. The spa itself was beautiful, quiet, and calming, and the masseuse was excellent. I really enjoyed the treatment. But as I was changing in the locker room afterward, a group of dining guests came in to tour the facilities and were taking pictures and videos. That’s a massive no-no at any other five-star hotel, where spa areas are restricted to spa guests. Again, it left me feeling that outside diners who can promote the venue got more consideration than paying hotel guests. Overall, a disappointing stay. If privacy matters to you, this isn’t the hotel for you.
Richard and Ollie took such great care of us during a work event at the Capella. They were thoughtful, attentive, and respectful, and their sense of humor made the stay a lot of fun. Huge shout out to them for going above and beyond!
