Diary of Ximen Hotel II, Liu Fu Branch

We were there from 5th Mac to 8th Mac, 2026, and the price certainly wasn’t low. The room and corridor had an unbearable smell, as did the lift. The mattress was so worn out that I woke up with a backache every morning. The toilet wasn’t soundproof, and the shower kept swinging between too hot and too cold. Reception staff were rude, as if the dreary surroundings had worn them down. There was no service with a smile. It was a horrible stay, and I feel I should warn other travelers.

The place was filthy from the elevator up, and the old building is badly maintained. The hallways smelled awful, the carpet was dirty, and the curtains and bathroom tiles were moldy. My room was dark, smelled of cigarettes and old furniture, and the bathroom had just one small working pin light. The bed was broken and visibly worn. Its bedding was poor quality, and the old, dirty comforter was so threadbare there was barely any cotton left inside. I couldn’t stay, so I asked to check out the next day and get a refund for my remaining two nights. They refused because I’d prepaid for three nights. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The Google reviews don’t match the actual condition, and I was surprised it was still operating.

The rooms were clean, nice, and decent, and seemed recently renovated. The hallways looked a little dated, but the bed was comfortable and the shower had hot water. I’d book again if I return to Taipei.

The staff were helpful enough, but pretty much everything else was awful. The hotel is just one floor in a sketchy building with casinos and smoke shops, not its own building. The lone small elevator was slow and full of cigarette butts. Inside, the room was tiny and gross. The beds were too short and felt and smelled strange, while the ceiling was falling apart. We could hear people in the next room laughing from 4-10AM every night because the soundproofing was poor. There was no air circulation in the room, which felt about the size of an Amazon delivery box, so be ready for your travel companions’ body odor after a night market visit. I wouldn’t book here, and it isn’t even the cheapest option.
