Dongmen Hotel

There’s no elevator, so guests who find stairs difficult may have a hard time. The staff can help with luggage, though. Street noise comes through because the building isn’t soundproof, and they cleaned my room even though I hadn’t asked. The hotel is right by Dongmen MRT Gate 1, beside a 7-11, local market, and Yongkang Park. Staff and neighbours were friendly, and there were enough things available for a stay. If you’re in good health and looking for an affordable place downtown, it’s a good option.

The hotel has potential, but it needs proper upkeep. There was mold on the room wall and in the bathroom, and the floor was dirty, especially around the corners. We could hear neighbours talking, and the window wouldn't close properly, so street noise came in too. There’s no elevator, and our room was on the fourth floor, something to think about if you have small children, older companions, or large suitcases. The location and interior design were good, there was a water dispenser on every floor, and the rescheduling or cancellation policy was flexible. Still, we paid NT2400 plus 400 tax, nearly NT3000, rather than the NT2000 or less shown by some search engines, so “you get what you pay for” only goes so far.

The room was too small. There was barely room for anything beyond the three beds and the Cr.

The only drawback I found was the lack of storage, so I had to use the couch to hold my things. The room did have the essentials, including air conditioning and a fridge. The staff were great, and the location was excellent: I could reach the MRT within minutes of leaving my room. CKS memorial hall was also just a short walk away.
