This works well for business travelers, though I wouldn’t say it’s ideal for tourists. It’s in the old Finance district, with the new district in 101, and it’s also popular with people going to concerts in Little Giant Eggs. My room was clean, spacious, and modern, with strong, stable Wi-Fi. Still, I found ants in it, even on the 6th floor.

My sixth-floor room was spacious and nice, including the bathroom, but it smelled strongly of smoke. I asked to move and got a room on the eighth floor without the cigarette smell. That one was noisy, though, because Royal Hostel’s exhaust pipe sits just outside the window and runs all day without stopping.

My child and I checked in on the afternoon of 6/19. The first problem came at bedtime: from 8:30pm to 11:15pm, my son got more than 10 mosquito bites. He was scared and crying, and the bites grew large with serious swelling. I told the front desk around 11pm and was advised to use an electric mosquito coil, which could have negative effects on people too. Then around 2am, a cockroach crawled across my face and lips while I was asleep. It was disgusting. I tried to stay quiet so I wouldn’t wake my son, spent over half an hour searching for and killing it, then another 15 minutes cleaning myself and my slipper, which I’d used to kill it. I planned to report this to the front desk first thing in the morning and see what they would do. After my complaints, we moved to a second-floor room and received credit for the first night. When my child showered in the new room, brown/yellow water came from the showerhead. Maybe the room had been unused for a long time and the pipes were rusty. I also wasn’t happy about the ceiling vent near the foot of the bed blowing air straight at my head. I covered my head with clothing to keep from getting cold. Since it was hot summer weather, I couldn’t turn off or adjust the air-conditioning temperature. (These comments were newly updated.)

I was there on my own for three nights and didn’t expect the room to be so big, but it turned out to be very, very spacious. Everything was clean and the staff were so nice. I’d love to come back.
