Green World Hotel Songshan

The breakfast was very nice and included in the reasonable price. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the cleaning staff kept on top of things. It’s a great hotel in a convenient spot on the blue line MRT, just steps from the Houshanpi station exit. I’d definitely stay here again.

We found the hotel generally quiet, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The facilities seemed fairly new, and the breakfast was tasty, though we only tried it once since there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The hotel gave us breakfast vouchers for its attached restaurant and stored our luggage for free. The buffet had a reasonable mix of Western and Asian dishes, plus plenty of drinks. Houshanpi MRT Station is about a minute away on foot. Taipei Main Station and places like Ximending took around 20 minutes to reach, while Taoyuan International Airport was about an hour and 45 minutes away. Our room looked much like the online photos, except the carpet was stained and the space was smaller than pictured. The bigger letdown was how easily noise came through the walls. We could hear a neighbor's TV and conversations at night, so sleep depended on how noisy people nearby were. We picked a hotel away from Taipei Main Station hoping for peace and quiet, and the lack of soundproofing disappointed us.

My wife and I stayed at Green World Hotel Songshan after finding a good Expedia rate for our Taipei visit. We had planned four days in Songshan District and four days in southern Taiwan, but a typhoon disrupted the train schedule, so we added another night in Taipei. On 11/12/25, after breakfast we went downtown to browse department stores, then returned from dinner around 9:30 p.m. A woman at reception told us a hand towel had been damaged and said we owed NT$200. When I asked for proof, another staff member showed us a wrapped towel with grey spots and said the damage was permanent. He then lowered the charge to NT$150, as if he were doing us a favor. We were tired after being out all day, so I paid to avoid a longer argument. I asked for an itemized receipt, but the printout only said "Damaged charge, NT$150." When I said that didn't clearly describe the towel damage, he gave me a dirty look and told me to wash it out myself or pay. What could I do? I was angry about more than the towel. The staff member also suddenly asked if I had accidentally packed one of their clothes hangers. I asked to speak with a manager, but he said he was the manager, Ricky, and was in charge of the front office that night. I felt the treatment was unfair and unreasonable. Based on this experience, I won't book this hotel or any hotel in its chain again.

The hotel is right beside Houshanpi MRT, and the station wasn't crowded, so we could usually get seats on the way to the tourist areas. The staff were friendly too :) If you see the fried egg pancake being sold outside, try it. It was amazing!
