Happiness Hotel

I haven’t checked in yet, but a phone call on November 15 left me feeling supported about my upcoming November 17 stay. I have a few room requirements because of recent health concerns, and I was worried they might be a nuisance. Mr. Li Yushu listened patiently and tried to understand what I needed. He looked for solutions, even when they involved things beyond the hotel’s standard facilities, and offered alternatives instead of simply saying something couldn’t be provided. That kind of care and professionalism is rare in my hotel experiences. Mr. Lee made me feel reassured before I’d even arrived, and I believe other guests would notice his sincerity and commitment too. I hope management recognizes the value he brings and gives him the encouragement he deserves. Thank you to the team, and especially to Mr. Lee, for the warmth and help.

The stay and service were a 10/10 for me. The front desk staff were professional, helpful, and patient with foreign customers. The people around the hotel were nice and accommodating too. It’s a quiet place with a vintage look. My standard twin room had a window and was clean and well lit, with a big-screen TV, water heater, hair dryer, shower, bathtub, and fridge. You can adjust the air conditioning near the fridge, and the light switches are there too. There’s even a fireplace that lights up like a lamp. The bathroom tiles were very white and clean. Malls, restaurants, shops, and banks are accessible nearby. Next to the building there’s a 7-Eleven, a kids’ playground, and a park, and the MRT is close. There are affordable food chains around as well. I might make another review showing the prices at the 7-Eleven beside the hotel.

The rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly and quick to help. It’s a modest place in Zhongshan, close to the metro and restaurants, with free snacks and a reasonably priced stay. Breakfast is included, though it isn’t a buffet. The decor feels a bit dated.

I chose this hotel for the location, and the staff I spoke to in person were kind and friendly. The room was another story. From the moment I entered, it looked dirty. I hoped the hairs I noticed were just a couple of strays, but I kept finding them all night in the bathroom, shower, and bedsheets. There was mold and dust too, as other reviews have mentioned. I tried wiping things down, but the dirt seemed to return. Photos I took in the morning show what was still there after I cleaned the night before. My hair is very short, so the hairs around the room, including those by the dirty mirror, weren’t mine. I don’t think the rooms are properly cleaned between guests. It seemed like maybe the beds are made and the trash is taken out, but that’s it. Reception sent me to booking.com to request a refund. I later got my money back for the nights I canceled, so I’ve added a star for the service. I’ve also included a photo of a lobby sign offering free snacks in exchange for five-star Google reviews. This isn’t the only hotel in Taipei doing that, but it makes me question whether many of the reviews here can be trusted. I don’t want to disrespect the staff who were kind to me face to face. My complaint is about whoever is responsible for the cleaning standard and the idea of bribing guests for good reviews.
