Les Suites Taipei Ching Cheng

With four children aged 5 to 10, we were scrambling for somewhere to stay after finding out Airbnb’s for less than 30 days are illegal in Taiwan. This worked out great for our family. The free breakfast and happy hour, which was basically dinner, made our 4-day trip easy. There are several convenient stores, bakeries, and lots of other restaurants on the same block, plus two metro lines just steps away. The front desk staff were very nice. It cost a lot less than similar 5-star hotels, and we had a great stay. My kids are already asking to come back, and I can’t recommend this place enough.

At happy hour on X'mas day, guests could enjoy a string quartet performing in the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and gave excellent service. We also appreciated the breakfast buffet and afternoon happy hour, which meant we didn’t have to go out for dinner if we didn’t feel like it. The hotel is conveniently next to an MRT station, making public transport easy.

We stayed for a week, loved it so much that we extended, and this is now our favourite of the several Taipei hotels we’ve tried. It has the feel of a 5-star place, and the guests were quiet and subdued. The shared spaces always felt respectful, never rowdy. The service really stood out. Staff were friendly and attentive, and Jason remembered the noodle dish I’d liked at Happy Hour. When I asked its name, he gave it to me in Chinese and English, then Oliver came over with the recipe in a cookbook so I could photograph the written names. That was so thoughtful. Oliver was always smiley, friendly, and helpful, and I couldn’t believe he was a Trainee, as his tag said. Another day, Jason greeted me as I arrived for Happy Hour and said, “We have the noodles you like today!” I’d once been deciding between the red and white wine, and a woman whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch hurried over to tell me about them. Taiwanese people are friendly in general, but in my opinion the staff here really do Taiwan proud. We’re already looking forward to returning to Taipei and staying here again.

The breakfasts were incredible, and the rooms were beautiful, quiet, and had lovely extras like fresh flowers and a Japanese toilet. It had that old-world luxury feel. The staff were excellent, especially Alex at the front desk and Jing at the restaurant. I’d live there if I could!
