For me, this place worked perfectly, and the staff, especially J and C, were very nice and helpful. Monthly bookings make it the cheapest and best-located hostel in Taipei, in my view. The price is a big plus, as are the clean sheets and comforter. The capsule bunks feel sturdy and solid, unlike the creaky metal bunks common elsewhere. Wi-Fi was free and reliably fast, the hot water worked, and the air conditioning was great if management would lower the temperature. It was often set to 26C while I was there, so I got a little sweaty sleeping unless I was in a bunk near the vent. It's not especially clean, and weekends can get noisy when it's full. I saw little roaches now and then in the bathroom and common area, but no mosquitoes or bugs in the dorms. Security felt good, with a private guard who has to let you up to the right floor. If you book online, be sure to communicate a lot with the staff about getting inside. Many people were locked out each day because no staff were there when they arrived. Someone might let you in, or you might be left in the hallway for hours. I had no problems myself. Thanks, J and C. You know who you are.

I missed my flight because of poor management and unprofessional service. The receptionist was rarely at the desk and wasn't helpful when I needed assistance. When she was there, she was rude and indifferent to basic questions and requests. She also said I had to pay more to sleep in a lower bunk, so I had to take an upper one, even though Agoda didn't offer that as a booking option. The toilets were poorly maintained and not properly cleaned. After checkout, there was no designated place to leave luggage, not even at the entrance, where security wouldn't allow it. I was told to put my bags on the fourth floor, but staff later directed me to the wrong floor and I couldn't find them in time. I missed my flight, which caused a lot of stress and financial loss. Proper directions and basic responsibility could easily have prevented it.

If you get to the city before 4:00 PM, don't come here. They won't open the door before 1:00 PM, and from 1:00 to 4:00 PM they charge a lot just to leave your luggage. Not much of a welcoming hostel feel. There's only one properly working shower in the men's section, and it's also one of just two toilets. The only private room has a small bed and barely space to put down one bag or stand without shifting things. Staff speak no more than three words of English, so don't expect helpful tips. At least there's plenty of free coffee! 😋

The photos of the sinks and bathroom aren't from this hostel, and some pictures show the Starbucks next door. The women's bathroom has just one toilet and two showers, and it feels like a sauna. The common room is tiny, and I saw two people sleeping on the sofas. In the morning, staff won't let you in, even just to drop off your bags quickly. I wouldn't recommend it. Pay a little more for a better hostel.

I lost 33 euros on this place, and I hope others can avoid the same mess. On Agoda, it appears under different names. When I booked, it was called Jing Cheng Youth Hostel. Other reviews say the same hotel has also been listed as Hive Hotel and many other names. After payment and confirmation, I got a surprise message saying I'd been placed at Starbox Hotel. I looked it up on Google, found these reviews, and realized I'd lost my money. I was lucky to have booked just one night. Agoda advertises what I believe is a fictitious hotel, but refused to refund me. I'll leave a screenshot of their response. I deleted the app afterwards and won't use Agoda again.
