Taipei Sanju watch station

We had a great eight-night stay, with very good housekeeping and a hotel that ran smoothly. The location was convenient too. The downside was the elevators: they got crowded, and once I had to wait through three rounds before I could get on. Expect some waiting at busy times, but it’s still a solid choice.

Our room attendant, Julie / Zhang Meizhu, was the best. Friendly, thoughtful, attentive, and helpful, she made our stay enjoyable. The restaurant staff were great too, working hard when breakfast got crowded, and front desk staff on other days answered our questions helpfully and knew the city. The breakfast had good variety, with some dishes changing each day, so we didn’t get bored after more than a week. The hotel is in a great spot, steps from Taipei Main Station, with MRT red and blue lines, high speed train, Taiwan train, and many buses nearby. Plenty of restaurants are within a 10-minute walk. We booked ten nights for two during our Taipei visit, and by the time I wrote this we’d stayed eight. The room isn’t large, and more than two check-ins could make it hard to find space for belongings, but the size is fine for most travelers. One front desk lady made check-in a bad experience. She spent an unusually long time at the computer, then handed us a paper saying “checkin at 3” without explaining. We waited an hour and returned, hoping another staff member could help, but the friendly staff were busy. She was the only one without customers, yet seemed to ignore us even though we were two meters away. After a few minutes she acted as if she’d just noticed us. She didn’t seem willing to serve customers or smile, a special character among the otherwise great staff. At checkout, the front desk manager said she’d read my review, apologized for the check-in, and promised better staff training. It’s a good hotel with an excellent location and service overall, and we’d stay again if we return to Taipei.

Getting around was easy, with MRT Taipei Main Station just a one-minute walk from Exit M3 and plenty of routes from there. Breakfast had a nice range of options, and the staff were helpful during my stay. The hotel itself is a little dated, but for a convenient city base, it’s a reasonable choice if the room isn’t your main priority.

I liked the coffee shop’s fresh brewed coffee, tea, and juice selection, and it also sells souvenirs. The room was clean and service was good. The hotel is near Taipei Main Station, so getting to other districts is convenient. One downside is the reception area has very few places to sit while waiting to check in or just relax.
