The Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei

We celebrated our second wedding anniversary in Taiwan, and staying at the hotel made an already lovely trip even better. Our standard double had a comfortable bed and a cozy feel. It’s away from many tourist attractions, which suited us because we prefer quieter areas, but both the blue and red MRT lines are within walking distance, so getting around was easy. My wife loves food, and we both enjoyed the buffet breakfast, a must for us when we book a hotel. Everyone we met, from check-in staff to housekeeping, was pleasant and keen to help. Special thanks to Joseph, who carried our luggage to the car at checkout and took photos of the two of us. We’d recommend the hotel and would gladly return. Two thumbs up! 🙂

The team at Taipei Howard Plaza Hotel made our family feel at home from the moment we arrived. They handled our needs with care and made traveling with the kids feel easy and stress-free. Nick at the front desk deserves special thanks: he arranged for the kids’ room to be close to ours, which meant a lot to us as parents. After checkout, I realized I’d left something in the room, and he helped quickly, professionally and with real kindness. We’re very grateful for the hospitality and would happily stay again or recommend the hotel.

For my first birthday as a new father, I chose the traditional Howard Hotel, known for its excellent service. It meant a lot to celebrate there with three generations of our family. When I made the reservation, the hotel asked why we were staying. After I mentioned my birthday, they surprised me with a thoughtful gift and warm wishes. It was a touching gesture that made us feel cared for. Taipei is a city full of human warmth and kindness. For leisure or business, this is one of the best choices here.

This is a traditional five-star hotel in a convenient spot, close to metro stations and only a short ride from major attractions. The rooms are beautifully furnished and comfortable, with mattresses and pillows that felt just right, neither too soft nor too hard. Staff were helpful and attentive. We liked the 7 scholar bar and its selection of snacks and drinks, and breakfast was amazing. It’s pricey, so go when you have time to try the variety. I wish breakfast ran until 11 instead of 10, especially for guests who aren’t traveling mainly for business. There were a few problems. Once, housekeeping took the used towels and forgot to leave fresh ones. We called reception and got replacements quickly. The shops on the ground and lower floors were another disappointment. Some prices were several times higher than those in town, and sellers quickly offered discounts or tried to bargain. I don’t expect that in a five-star hotel. A fair price with a modest convenience markup would be fine, but those inflated prices and market-style haggling felt disrespectful. I suggest the hotel review its arrangements with the shops and what they sell. We left disappointed and bought what we wanted in regular Taipei shops. The service booklet also didn’t list prices for massage or babysitting, so we couldn’t tell in advance what was offered. Even with these issues, we had a great stay and would come back.
