Melody Hawaii Hotel

They let me park my motorcycle inside the hotel, which felt really safe. The rooms were clean and spacious. Good stay.

The room was stuffy and smelled musty, and the place looked worn and dated. The Agoda photos showed it in much better condition, so the supposed last-minute bargain felt misleading. I left straight away rather than lose more of my holiday there. Since I booked through Agoda, I don't expect to get a refund. Avoid this place.

I was there for mandatory travel quarantine, and with so few options for a quarantine hotel in Taitung, I had little choice. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and I was scared to sit down or touch anything. There was a used COVID test swab by the bed, bits of toilet paper on the floor, hair in the dirty tub, and dust and dirt in the corners. It seemed not to have been properly cleaned or sterilized between guests. It took more than an hour for them to move me to another room. The workers were pleasant at first, but the conditions and SOP seemed very poor. Disgusting. I'd give zero stars if I could.

For a three-bed room, it wasn't as bad as other reviews suggested, so maybe I got lucky. The toilet had stubborn stains and was pretty dirty, though the floor looked like it had been washed recently and was dry. The sheets were clean enough to sleep on, but not great.
