The one good thing was the location, with convenience stores, the train station and restaurants all within walking distance. The room itself was filthy, and I can't tell if it had even been cleaned. Three cockroaches were there when I walked in, two still alive. The AC barely worked, even set to 18 degrees Celsius, and I was sweating all night. Running it for hours made no difference, and its blades were broken. I also don't know if the sheets were clean. Within five minutes of lying down I got a rash and felt itchy all over, so I used my own clothes as a layer to get some rest.

The service was awful along with the room. At checkout, the owner kept saying nobody else had complained. We pointed out the many reviews about the same problems, but he said other businesses had made them up, even though their photos were online. When he returned 400 yuan, he counted each bill out and tossed it onto the counter. He even threw away the key when we handed it back. I wouldn't give this place a star if I could. The owner was rude when I complained. He came upstairs and said the comforter stains were meant to be there and couldn't be washed out, so he wouldn't replace it. He also said the bugs might have come in when the ventilation was on that morning, then asked how there could be bugs, and then said, "That's not a bug?!" I couldn't get a refund, so I said I could pay for a rest, no problem. He told me that would cost 1000, when the room was 1400 and a half-hour rest was 1000. The hallway was frightening, like a horror movie, and the smoke smell was overwhelming. The soundproofing was terrible too. Breakfast was meant to be meat buns and toast. The place was old and worn, but at least it should have been clean. The sheets had yellow stains and lots of tiny black specks, and two or three bugs crawled out of the pillow. The showerhead wasn't installed, just left in the bathtub, and the water wouldn't get hot. The table was dusty and the kettle was extremely yellow. The room phone didn't work, so I had to call the front desk from my cell.

There was a big gap under the door, so hallway noise carried into the room. I noticed a faint smoke smell in the hallway, though not inside the room. I had expected traffic noise near the bridge, but that wasn't an issue. The room was roomy enough and reasonably clean; there was a little dust on the sheets and blankets that brushed off easily. The AC was cold, the hot water was hot enough, and the toilet fixtures were quite old.

We saved 3600 on the four-person room. The walls were mottled, which seemed normal for an older hotel. The air conditioning was actually quite nice. The bathroom's hot water was very hot, but had a noticeable smell with no clear cause. The hairdryer didn't work, but they gave us a replacement after we reported it, so it wasn't a big deal. The sheets and pillowcases had lots of marks that looked unwashed, but they changed them when we mentioned it. There were also small insects on the bed that jumped short distances and looked like fleas; we later figured out they were just little bugs and spiders, nothing to worry about. Then we checked out…
