Pisces Youth Hostel

I stayed in a female dorm and shared it with just one other girl. The owner was very helpful, checking ferry schedules for me and sharing lots of useful advice. The hostel is close to central Taitung and the price is appealing. Cleanliness could be better, but it worked well for a one-night stay.

There’s plenty of space, with a billiard table, PlayStation 4, a PC, bicycles to use, and a friendly dog. The bed was very comfortable. Some guests may be concerned about cleanliness, but we wore footwear inside the hostel, so it didn’t bother me much.

I’ve felt really relaxed here over the past two weeks, thanks to the chill atmosphere and the team. There’s quick internet and enough space to work quietly, so it also works as a co-working spot. Mornings come with delicious fruit, and it’s easy to walk to the beach and Sunrise in 10 minutes, or cycle there. Night markets are also easy to reach on foot, and 7/11 is just around the corner. Staff and helpers share the best things to do in Taitung. We went to Dulan, Douli and Luye to relax at the beach and enjoy the air balloon festival. You can play pool too. Thanks to the team for making this feel so easygoing.

The dog comes over to welcome you when you arrive, and will stick with you all the time. If you don’t enjoy being around dogs, you may want to think about whether this is the right place for you. It’s a friendly, spacious hostel about 10 minutes from the city center, with a pool table, TV and PlayStation, a roof area to relax on, a guitar, and bicycles available to rent for free.
