Fullon Hotel Linkou

This is a handy spot between Taipei City and the airport, with a nearby MRT and highway. It suited us well for airport access while staying outside busy Taipei. The room was clean and a decent size, though its white light felt a bit harsh. Service was straightforward, and we could lower the AC temperature to what we needed, despite some other reviewers saying it couldn’t be adjusted. The gym is basic, with no serious weight equipment. There’s no pool, but there is a sauna, and you need to change your room card to get access. Coin-op laundry in the basement is a plus. Remember to return the room keys to the front desk, since each unreturned card costs NT$300(about $10 USD).

The service was really good, easily a five-star part of the stay. The rooms and bathrooms, though, felt run down, and the thin walls let noisy neighbours disturb us. WiFi was slow and unreliable, so it was bad for work. For the quality of the rooms, it was expensive, and breakfast was average, particularly for vegetarian food. Overall it wasn’t great, and I might not stay again.

The hotel’s lounge on level 2 is open to guests outside breakfast hours, and we spent a lot of time there planning and working. It was comfortable, with WiFi, coffee, snacks, and iced drinks. The lobby also felt grand and welcoming whenever we came back after a day out. Our Superior Twin was spacious and clean, with a city view, and had a bathtub we hadn’t expected plus a Japanese style toilet. At the basement laundromat, three washers, three dryers, and an ironing board made laundry easy. It was just a lift ride away and accepted contactless credit cards. There’s a convenience store across the street, a toy store for my kid just minutes away, and a supermarket right behind us, with plenty of restaurants on the main street. The small gym was nice, too. My only issue was the soundproofing between rooms. We heard people talking in both rooms beside us, though it wasn’t a big problem while we were there since everyone was awake.

The room was spacious and clean, and I liked both its size and the view. But the front desk staff were cold whenever I checked in, called for help, or asked questions in person, so I felt unwelcome and couldn’t get the help I needed. The hotel also seemed disorganized. Breakfast was included in my booking, and because I had an early flight I asked the evening before if they could pack a sandwich for an early check-in guest. They noted my request, but when I checked out early the next morning the front desk didn’t know about it. There were two soft drinks in the fridge but no bottled water, and I couldn’t tell if the drinks were free or charged. There was no sign in the room, and the front desk hadn’t mentioned it.
