The Cloud Hotel Chungli

A mouse showed up in the dining hall while we were having breakfast. That was the low point of a very disappointing first stay in Taiwan. We were put in one of the ugly rooms in the annex, with no elevator, so we had to carry our luggage up steep stairs to the third floor. The room and its amenities felt old and uncomfortable, and without a shower mat the bathroom floor was a wet mess after every use. 🙁🙁🙁

Read the room details carefully and avoid the stairs-only option. I was in the old building, not the newer one by reception, and the smell of old wood mixed with cigarette smoke was so strong I couldn't sleep. I ended up leaving at 6:30am because I couldn't bear it any longer.

I’ve stayed here more than once, including in rooms 201 and 702, and the main building rooms are nice. They’re still affordable, so I’d pay the small extra amount for one of those newer rooms. The rooms in the back are older, more traditional, and reached by a stairwell. After a long flight, this is a handy place to rest. Zhongli Tourist Night Market and the Zhongli SOGO area for food and shopping are both a short walk away. There’s also a bus station right behind the building, with connections to the MRT for the airport or buses toward Taoyuan city center. Thanks to Cloud Hotel for having me back several times. The front desk has also helped me with travel and transportation options.

We only needed a place for one night while waiting for our connecting flight, and the location worked well: the A21 airport MRT station is just behind the hotel. The room has a hot and cold water dispenser, so we didn't have to rely on the dirty water kettles some hotels provide.
