Start Journey Hotel

The neighborhood felt like my grandma's home, and it was so relaxing. The room was clean, and the AC kept it cool enough in summer 😁. A lovely place to stay and unwind.

I've been coming to KaiLan Hotel with family and friends at least three times a year, and it holds so many memories for me. The beach is just a few minutes away, and coming back for a good night's sleep is always the best. I remember the breakfasts and midnight snacks, running down the long hallways after my sister, and staying up watching TV until midnight. We'd laugh at the doorbell's strange ringing sound. The hotel always made me feel safe. The drive here is memorable too, even though it's far from where I live. We go through the long tunnel and watch the numbers count down. I know the building from top to bottom and left to right. When I was little, I played in the play room on the 5th floor. Now I'm too big for it, and I remember nearly flipping over the slide. I look out at Guishan and watch my sister go down it instead. I've seen how the hotel began and how it is now. It's been part of my life, and I'm always proud to say I was here from the start. Thank you for all the memories.

The staff were lovely and we had a pleasant stay. Everything looked new, and the hotel was clean and nice. Getting around is convenient if you rent a scooter or borrow one of their bikes, which are free for the first two hours. Breakfast was the one letdown for me. There weren't any western options apart from white bread. It was the usual fried rice, tea egg, stir-fried vegetables, and rice porridge. I would've liked scrambled eggs or ham.

The hotel's lobby was pleasant and breakfast was good, and the location is excellent. The room could have been nice with basic upkeep, but mine wasn't clean when I arrived. The floor was dirty, with hairs, rubbish, and mud all over it. I went downstairs to complain and waited while they cleaned it again. Afterward, I found what looked like sugar or another sticky, crystallized substance on the wardrobe surface. Some got on my clothes. I complained downstairs again, and they said they'd clean it, but they never did. Having to raise cleanliness issues twice is unacceptable. The view from the room looked like an elevator shaft. This hotel has a lot of potential, and it’s a shame the rooms aren’t being kept up.
