Waiao Beach House

Our booking was either for a Sea View room or a basement room with a private swimming pool. This mingsu is run by a celebrity couple, and we felt honoured to stay in their favourite room. Guests can use the shared space for Netflix and the carting game machine until 8pm, except those staying in the basement. Breakfast comes with a choice of seafood porridge or omelet. The butlers are friendly and approachable.

The room was neat and felt perfect for celebrating a special occasion. Staff were very approachable, and there was someone who could communicate in English if you don't speak Mandarin. It's not too far from the train station if you're commuting. I recommend this hotel to others looking to stay near the beach in Yilan. It was perfect for us 👌 👍 🥰.

The views were nice, but this was one of the weirdest places we've stayed. Our huge room lacked basics: there were no outlets by the bed, and the outlets in the room didn't actually charge. The handheld shower was odd, the bathroom had no door, and the floors were uneven. It was dirty too, with mold in the shower, bird poop on the outside chairs, and plenty of hair and other dirt on the stairs. Since it cost double what the B&Bs in the same area cost, I expected much more. If we come to Wai’ao again, we'd stay in a home stay.

The service was top notch, and each morning we were welcomed with a lovely breakfast, including a special plate for little kids. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and we enjoyed hanging out in the common areas. The kids loved watching a movie and racing cars. We had a wonderful, luxurious stay with visiting family. If you come to Waiao beach and can splurge a little, it's worth the experience. We visit Yilan and Waiao often, and I think this is the best accommodation on this stretch of beach. You won't be disappointed.
