Hoping Mori Hotel

I was completely baffled by this stay. The bedding smelled like foot odor, so I suspect it hadn’t been changed. Then someone opened my door twice that morning. I had to put the latch on myself, and my friend said their doors had been opened before too. The front desk had told me checkout was 10:00 AM because I booked in person. When I asked why, they said online bookings were an exception, even though online booking was closed and I couldn’t have booked that way. I was left speechless 😅.

The room and the view were quite good for a rural area where transport is inconvenient, and the staff were very helpful. But I had a worrying experience with other guests. They knocked on doors at random, deliberately shot at birds, and used their own room cards to open other people’s doors. Mine opened too. I was a man and scared the person away, and since it was morning I ruled out someone being drunk. I wouldn’t put too much trust in electronic locks at hotels. Use the manual lock as a precaution, and don’t open the door unless someone knocks and identifies themselves. I hope the hotel addresses the fact that room cards can open other rooms, especially with small families and children staying there. The parking spaces looked fine, but the damaged barrier makes it seem the driver didn’t know what kind of car they were driving and would probably crash into things on the road.

The parking ramp was so steep that I hit my front bumper, and staff gave no explanation or seemed to care that the design had caused an accident. In the room, the sound carried badly: I could hear people talking next door, walking past, and shutting doors. The hot water started out hot but soon ran out. I waited 5 or 10 minutes, but it barely got warmer than body temperature, and I shivered through the shower. A very poor stay.

I liked the big balcony with its natural views, and the room was bright. The bathroom was in good working order, and the staff were quite friendly. But there were tea stains on the cups and cockroaches in the room. Sound insulation was awful, and I couldn’t sleep properly with people talking and showering in the neighboring rooms. Breakfast was just average. I came away pretty disappointed.
