The rooms were clean, and the building itself seems quite new. There’s room to park 4-5 cars, and the kitchen has a big fridge and a water dispenser. In the bathroom, the shower and toilet are separate, there’s a bidet toilet, and hand soap is provided. Just remember to let the owner know about 20 minutes before you arrive so they can check you in. They’re very friendly and helpful.

Room 201, the four-person room upstairs, was spacious and very clean, with a little balcony. It had a bidet toilet but no bathtub. The whole place has four rooms, two doubles and two for four people, and the dining table seats 12. We found the stay comfortable and good value, and I’d come back. It seems especially suited to a family booking the entire guesthouse. The owner runs it himself and told us he’d originally planned it as his own home, which makes sense of the homey layout. Outside there’s a balcony set up for coffee, a fish pond, and a ground-floor lawn. Inside, the kitchen, dining area, and living room feel like part of a family home. Guests can use the kitchen except for the gas stove, which was closed because there was no gas. There are microwaves, rice cookers, and induction cookers, along with tableware and seasonings, though you have to bring your own food. Since restaurants nearby are scarce, you could pick up partly prepared food at the supermarket to cook here, or have dinner or breakfast delivered.

There’s plenty of room, and it has that homey feel. It was comfortable for our family and friends.

I loved hearing the insects and raindrops in the courtyard. It brought back childhood memories. The rooms were clean, the surroundings pleasant, and the facilities were great. The owner made us feel very welcome, and this was the best stay I’ve had. If I get back to Yilan, I’d choose Yongcui Pastoral again.
