Laurel Villa

We were a group from Thailand staying for the night of December 28-29, 2025. The room and service were good, and we loved the breakfast. It had that homey feeling. The morning bike ride with the owner was a great experience, and I’d recommend it to everyone. Two cute dogs came along and kept us company the whole way. We’ll definitely come back :)

We loved starting our vacation with the lake bike tour. The owner took us to some of the best spots around SML and gave us really helpful tips on things to do and places to visit. It was an early start, but the views were worth it, and dogs from the neighborhood joined us too. Thanks, Wayne & JD, for such a great experience! The location was convenient, our room was clean, and the owners were incredibly friendly.

The sunrise bike ride was one of my favorite experiences ever. The scenery and the owners’ love for Sun Moon Lake made it special. We’ve been traveling around Asia for a few months, and this was easily our favorite place to stay. The owners are genuinely kind, the staff are amazing, and the rooms are bright, clean, and spacious. Breakfast was good too. It’s hard to beat the location and the value. We were sad to leave. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Sun Moon Lake.

The owners still give the same warm welcome I remember from years ago. Last time we joined their morning walk, and this visit we tried the bicycle tour instead. Getting up early for it is worth it for the changing views of Sun Moon Lake. The sky can be clear one day and cloudy the next, and the surroundings can feel peaceful or quite different. It reminded me that life changes too, and we should appreciate what we have. I stayed four nights and never got tired of the traditional Taiwanese breakfast. Some dishes changed each day, and the owners were up as early as 5 a.m. to have it ready by 7:30. They also care about everyone’s well-being and have house rules to help guests be considerate of each other. One night, our neighbors were making a lot of noise after 9 p.m., then suddenly lowered their voices. I think the rules help people remember that paying for a stay doesn’t mean you can do whatever you like. Thanks for everything. I look forward to coming back.
