Ming Yue Hu Lakeview BnB

The room was spacious and quite clean, and my kid loved the bathtub. There’s a nice food area nearby, and in the morning you only need to walk a few minutes to find lots of good food, even though breakfast is provided. The hotel breakfast was just okay, but I didn’t have a problem with the choices. The lobby is a little small, though there are a few friendly people at reception. It’s a reasonably priced, convenient place. I’d hoped for a better night view, but it was fine. Seeing people exercise nearby early in the morning was interesting. The bus stop is a bit far, so travelling light would make the walk easier.

The receptionists were a bright spot. They were warm and friendly, and went out of their way to help us figure out transport. Breakfast was average, with a limited range, but the view was nice. The hotel and room feel old-fashioned. There’s a good lake view and a bathtub, but the room was only decently clean: some hair was left in the tub, and there were stains around the sink. The floors felt sticky, although the bedroom slippers they provided helped. It also gets noisy during the day from the crowds and buskers outside.

There’s a loud announcement on repeat in Chinese and English telling people to visit the restaurant on the second floor. It’s tacky and spoils the otherwise beautiful, peaceful feel of the area. Please stop doing this. Sun Moon Lake is a national treasure of Taiwan, and this kind of noise is ruining it.

A small, classy hotel that feels compact without being cramped. It was clean and well kept throughout. Nothing was loose or worn out, from the sockets and bedding to the toilet seats. Breakfast came in a basket with a nice note from the chef.
