The views are the big draw here. Every room looks out at Sun Moon Lake, through either a window or balcony, and the three-minute walk to the boat tour dock makes it easy to get out on the water. It’s a lovely spot for photos of the morning fog and mountain reflections. There are also plenty of restaurants just outside, and the buffet breakfast has lots of tasty options. The gentleman at reception was courteous and helpful, and I enjoyed talking with him. The room layout had a couple of small issues, though. The bathroom is quite small with an open shower, and I had trouble finding somewhere convenient to hang clothes or towels away from the spray. Still, the view and location make it a fantastic choice, especially for couples.

We chose this hotel for the balcony and lake view, and weren’t disappointed. The room was modern and a good size, with beautiful views from the balcony. We much preferred staying in Sushei, right on the waterfront, even after taking the ferry to Ita Thao. Ita thoa has a livelier Main Street with food vendors, and it’s where the Gondala leaves from. Pay extra for the lake view. The staff were very friendly, though their English was limited. The breakfast buffet didn’t start until 8am and was a little underwhelming. Dinner choices nearby are limited unless you want hot pot. We ate across the street, and the restaurant was very good. For riding around the lake, we rented e-bikes from the Giant store. They were excellent, though probably more expensive than other providers. The shower screen was small, so the bathroom floor got a bit flooded, but towels made it easy to manage. We also noticed an occasional sewage smell in the hotel. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed for two nights in a balcony room, watching the amazing Sun Moon Lake scenery change from the 611am sunrise through to sunset. Breakfast was great and service was good. While we waited for the room to be ready for check-in, they served us tea.

Watching the sunrise from our own balcony was a highlight. For the best view, I’d suggest a room on one of the higher floors. The free breakfast was fantastic, with Taiwanese and Western choices, and they’d cut fresh fruit to order. The staff were all so kind and helpful, and went out of their way to suggest things to do around Sun Moon Lake. We had an amazing stay at Apollo Resort Hotel and would absolutely come back next time! 🌅✨

The staff made this place feel like home. The manager was so sweet and made sure we were comfortable. He even warned us that restaurants close early, and said there are two convenience stores nearby but Family Mart is safer to cross to at night because there’s less traffic. The lobby was comforting, with a spot for Chinese tea, and the Chinese-style design is beautiful. Breakfast was delicious too. It’s one minute from the boat ticket booth and boarding pier, and we spent ages on the balcony enjoying the lake view. Definitely choose the lake-side room. The hotel isn’t huge or overcrowded, and has a homey feel. After a lot of research, we thought it was the best hotel in shui she pier, apart from Lalu hotel, which costs 5x as much.
