Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge

We were just passing through on the way to the Serengeti and stayed one night. The lodge was so peaceful and lovely that we wished we could have stayed longer. The staff were always smiling, welcoming, and glad to help. Our room was spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and well equipped. We had both dinner and breakfast, and everything we ordered was excellent. There were plenty of dinner options, too. We’d happily return and recommend Arusha Coffee Lodge.

The coffee tour was fun, informative, and delicious, thanks to Johanna, who did a terrific job. We also really enjoyed the food, the lovely grounds, and the standout service, including Colletta. The rooms are nice, though the worn power outlets could use an update. I’d definitely recommend Arusha coffee lodge.

The food was amazing, the rooms spacious, and the coffee tour was great. It’s a beautiful place to start a Tanzania safari. But I’d suggest they not ask guests for reviews face to face before checkout. When I said the check-in could feel more personal, the manager questioned me about my comments in front of my travel partners. It made me very uncomfortable.

The Shanga Workshop and Gift shop is a beautiful place. Local people with different disabilities make all kinds of crafts there to sell in the shop, a marvelous way to help them earn a living. We also had a lovely chat with the guest liaison over our last breakfast. I can’t remember her name, but she was charming and genuinely interested in my ideas for improvements, like adding archery or pickle ball courts. There isn’t much to do besides relax, which is fine, but those could be options. We stayed two nights to recover from the long trip from Vancouver before our safari, and it worked really well. The whole place has a warm, welcoming, old world feel. The staff were charming and very accommodating. Some lodges sit closer to the main road, where passing lorries can make the room vibrate, so light sleepers may want one farther away. We’re light sleepers, and staff happily moved us. I also misplaced our lodge key. They kept reassuring me with “Hakuna Matata,” and luckily I found it the next day. We took the coffee tour with Martin, if I’ve got the name right, and highly recommend it. It was really interesting and informative. We had a wonderful stay and recommend the lodge.
